EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME

Prospectus for Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib School of Nursing will be prepared for the students seeking admission. The prospectus will have:

  • Annual Intake of Students ( 50 students per year)
  • Admission Criteria-term and condition for admission
  • Selection committee
  • Health service to be provided for the students
  • Training programme

Contents of the Course in G.N.M. (Graduate Nursing & Midwifery Diploma Program)

Duration - 3 ½  years

  • Preliminary Period.
  • Year wise distribution of the course, contents and hours.
  • Course instructions and supervised practice.
  • Clinical experience.
  • Reports and records.
  • Examination scheme.
  • Vocations, holiday sick leave rules.

The above as prescribed by INC and Punjab Nurses Registration Council.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The nurses after completing the Graduate Nursing & Midwifery Diploma Program (G.N.M Diploma Program) the graduates are expected to:

  1. Demonstrate skills required in the nursing process.
  2. Assess the health need of individual, facilities through out their life from birth to death.
  3. Plan appropriate action to help people retain or sustains their best possible level of health in all circumstances.
  4. Demonstrate skill in human relationship, effective communication and problem solving methods.
  5. Demonstrate skills in mobilizing community resources of other health care providers.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the professional behavior of professional organizations, personal and professional growth.
  7. Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision making abilities in various situations.
  8. Practice ethical values in their personal and professional life.
  9. Evaluate effectiveness of nursing and health care activities.
  10. Practice professionally at the beginning level and will promote safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.
  11. Develop caring relationship with patients and families experiencing chronic health challenges.
  12. Use decision-making models to guide nursing care.
  13. Value the complexity of relationship within families.
  14. Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
  15. Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skills in their work.
